The A&M Aggies have found their 13th man! Kevin Sumlin will replace former head coach, Mike Sherman, in the 2012 Aggie season. Sumlin, who leaves the University of Houston with a 35-17 record, heads to A&M just in time for the Aggies to start in the SEC. It will be an uphill battle for coach Sumlin but he is ready for the challenge. Sumlin will arrive in College Station with a few advantages. First he coached in Aggieland as an assistant for 2 years under R.C. Slocum, secondly he will remain in Texas which is his natural recruiting base, and finally he will now be in an Automatic Qualifying Conference (AQ) which will give him some leverage when recruiting. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the 2012 season. Coach Sumlin will have the honor of ushering the Aggies into the Southeastern Conference but will also carry the weight of however this adventure unfolds. In the end this is a great opportunity for coach Sumlin and for the A&M Aggies. Both can benefit from this situation. Only time will tell.
