Wallerstedt Named Linebackers Coach

Matt Wallerstedt, former defensive coach at the Air Force Academy, has been named the new Aggie linebackers coach. Wallerstedt served as the associate head coach, defensive coordinator, and inside linebackers coach at Air Force the past two seasons. He began his coaching career in 1988 as a student assistant at Kansas State and served two years as a graduate assistant at Arizona State. He worked at both Fort Hayes State and Emporia State before landing at the University of Wyoming for six seasons. He then moved on to North Alabama and Akron before returning to Kansas State. Wallerstedt  added special teams to his responsibilities in 2007 before moving to Colorado Springs and the Air Force Academy in 2008. Wallerstedt is a great addition to the new coaching staff at Texas A&M. We welcome him with open arms and can't wait to see him put his talent to work. Change is Coming to College Station!

Things are changing quickly in College Station. Not only have the Aggies joined the SEC and are in the midst of building one of the most up to date football players development centers in the country but the Aggies have already changed their football schedule for the 2012 season. Originally the Aggies were to open the season at home with McNeese State but instead will now be heading to Shreveport to take on Louisiana Tech in Independence Stadium. The Aggies have also added South Carolina Sate to the schedule in another non-conference game. Although the Aggies will be facing one of their toughest schedules in quite some time they are looking forward to the challenge and changes. Currently A&M has only four home games on it's schedule. Another change to the Aggie team is the addition of Marcel Yates, a former Boise State defensive backs coach. Yates will serve as co-defensive coordinator and will oversee the defensive secondary for Texas A&M. Although the road may be a long one with the changes in College Station, the Aggies are looking forward to the trip. I am preparing early and getting my tickets from www.BigWilltickets.com before it's too late! Gig'em Aggies! Show the SEC who's in town!
